STEVE FRASER was born in Stranraer on the west coast of Scotland. With a typically Celtic sense of adventure, the ambitious young Scot dreamed of embarking on a journey around the world. He hit the road at the age of 16, spending several years traveling around the UK as a guitarist in a succession of bands, before making his dream a reality and heading overseas. During his travels he began to develop his artistic talent, studying first at Concordia University in Montreal, then at Kensington & Chelsea School of Fine Art. After successful shows in London with his earlier works, Fraser continued his journey of exploration and is now living in Sydney, Australia where he is currently producing a series of works exploring Scottish cultural influences around the world. This work is now receiving international recognition, and in 2007 he was invited to show in New York. His collection was exhibited at Sir Sean Connery’s opening of Alba House during US Tartan Week where he was interviewed by Art Scene host Kipton Cronkite for NYC TV. Fraser absorbs colors, texture and influences from every country he experiences, incorporating them into his own unique landscape. “I am compelled to keep exploring, both in the physical and intellectual sense. I’m always fascinated by man’s ability to adapt, assimilate and re-invent themselves. My art is about transition and endurance – and I guess, about being Scottish!” Steve Fraser Fraser’s work will also be exhibited in Edinburgh, Scotland at The Gathering 2009.
