Named Winner at the 2004 Restaurant and Catering NSW Metropolitan Awards for Excellence in September 2004, in the category of Best Modern Australian Informal Dining, Catalina Rose Bay is located on Sydney Harbour at Rose Bay, in the eastern suburbs of the city.
Rose Bay was the site of Australia's first international airport. Flying boats, including the famous Catalinas, had their base in the bay. Sea-planes continue to use Rose Bay as a landing site.
